Digital Ad Outlook & the State of Search/Chatbot Competition
WHAT: New Street Research’s US Internet analyst, Dan Salmon, will host an expert call with Jason Hartley from PMG, one of the largest independent media buying agencies.
Dan and Jason will discuss the outlook for digital advertising spending against the backdrop of recent macro anxiety and also dig into the state of competition in search as new chatbot/AI agent competitors emerge.
SPEAKER BIO: Jason Hartley is the Head of Media Innovation and Trust at PMG and was previously the Head of Search and Shopping for the agency, and a member of the Google Performance Council. Prior to joining PMG, Jason was EVP, Head of Search and Shopping at 360i (owned by Dentsu) and previously worked at Hachette Media and Martha Stewart Omnimedia.
WHY: The call will be a great opportunity to address some of the top investor questions of late, including:
- What are you hearing from advertisers about their views on the macro environment and potential for a recession?
- If there is a recession, what forms of digital advertising do you expect to be most resilient? What do you expect to be least resilient?
- What new disruptors and innovations are you monitoring across the search landscape, particularly the impact of generative AI disruption like ChatGPT, Perplexity and Meta AI?
- How do you gauge scale of user growth and engagement on different platforms in an increasingly fragmented, multi-platform consumer experience?
- What is the potential for chatbots/AI agents to address commercial queries and build new ad revenue models?
